WILL TAKE CHARGE AND PALACE MALICE MEET SOME OLD FRIENDS IN THE WHITNEY
Will Take Charge and Palace Malice meet again Aug. 2 in the $1.5 million Whitney Handicap (gr. I), squaring off at Saratoga Race Course as the top two choices in a field of nine drawn for the 1 1/8-mile test.

The Whitney will be broadcast as part of NBC's "Summer at Saratoga: Breeders' Cup Challenge Series" program that will air at 5 p.m. ET. Saturday's show will be hosted by Tom Hammond, who will be joined by analysts Randy Moss and Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey, and reporters Donna Brothers and Eddie Olczyk. The Aug. 2 show will also include the $500,000 Longines Test Stakes (gr. I) for fillies and mares, to be run at seven furlongs.  Read more
 

With four victories in four starts this year, Palace Malice hopes to continue making a statement in the second half of the season when he races Aug. 2 in the grade I Whitney Handicap at Saratoga Race Course.

And, if the 4-year-old Curlin   colt continues his roll, his owners believe he has a shot at Horse of the Year honors for 2014.  Read more

SHE DID IT! 
TAGHROODA QUEEN OF ASCOT! Classic-winning 3-year-old filly Taghrooda faced older males July 26 and came up the best in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes Sponsored by QIPCO Champions Series (Eng-I) at Ascot.

The Shadwell homebred became just the second Investec (Epsom) Oaks (Eng-I) winner to take the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in the same year. She has joined 1976 English and French Horse of the Year Pawneese as the only fillies to complete that considerable double.
